I have watches from all three manufacturers. None have given much trouble. Pateks have been flawless. An AP went back for service due to poor timekeeping (fixed), and one Rolex developed loss of accuracy and measured amplitude. Developed it a second time also. Now seems fine.

As for durability all three have been with me in serious sports, swimming and diving.

2) Time and cost of a repair
Rolex is by far the most reliable luxury watch I've ever owned.

Was this a 32xx movement? What years (first and second repair) did it go into RSC?

We've never had a 30xx or 31xx go in for anything but routine service intervals.

Yes, both that movement. About 3 to 5 years ago. The Explorer was serviced by RSC in Dallas about a year ago and runs great. Good accuracy and about 280° amplitude.

AP is the only one of the three that I've had an issue with. Both times was a date wheel issue.
Zero issues with any Rolex in 25 years of collecting.
