Very objective view on Cubitus
Not beating a dead horse but I think now people have cooler minds and some have actually gotten the Cubitus, we can see Cubitus from a more objective view.
https://monochrome-watches.com/revie...ison-nautilus/ I still stand on my original analysis that it would be much improved and have better reception when they come in a smaller case. |

I have seen all three models of the Cubitus in person, in three different ADs.
Among the three, I have tried on the platinum model, without the protective film wrapping, in a grey store. I had strong hopes of liking it. I wanted to decide if I should place an order, especially because they are inaugurating models of a new line. My conclusion was to wait for future iterations. As many have said, they were nice, well-made watches. What bothered me was, that contrary to the many criticisms that their designs are "lazy," I felt that they lacked the effortlessness that I see in most other Pateks. I felt as though they were not initiated from an idea of a good watch which resulted in a square design, but from a strong need to come up with a new line with a square form, into which they had to try very hard to squeeze a good watch, i.e. the Nautilus. All of this is very subjective, ofcourse. |

I'm in Gran Canaria next month so I will see if they have any in . Greatly looking forward to seeing these. (hopefully before I get laughed out the shop!)
Side by side it makes the Nautilus look old fashioned, lumpy (or "carbuncle" as King Charles once used to describe ) and ill formed as I always have because tbf I never really took to the Nautilus and fail to see the hype) The Cube has clean lines and has tidied up the look, but the only two things I would prefer was a sq caseback window the round one looks cheap and the wider Nautilus bracelet would balance it more TBF I tend to go against the grain somewhat as I also love the Calatrava Pilot TT and the Calatrava weekly calendar so judge me on my poor taste! |

I tried on the SS model yesterday and my wife said, "You have to get that!"
It would be silly to start an argument with my wife.

Nice review. The last photo really shows the tiny underwhelming movement in the large square case. A solid back would have been best on this one, if PP would not take the time to build a square movement to fit the case.

I told my SA I need that watch!
My wife just got a Reverso and yesterday fell in love with a Cartier. Trouble brewing.

This thing is just hideous. An abomination. The emperor has no clothes. When it was first leaked everyone thought it was a hoax, a parody or a joke of some sort. The reality has sunk in that it's real and it's a spectacular fail. The Cubitus is a brick that looks awful in pictures and even worse on the wrist. It takes everything graceful and interesting about the Nautilus, reminding one of a ships porthole, and deconstructs it into a square with NO nautical reference and no design interest. I can't believe how ugly and stupid it is. Embarrassing really that they could release this crap and think that they can ride their reputation right through the criticism.
