For me it’s not boredom, but more like moving chess pieces on a board. I’ve finally become comfortable tweaking my collection based mostly on what I wear over time and working towards more diversity.
I recently traded both 116 Daytonas for a Patek as I still have 5 Rolexes that I wear the most. To be transparent, I prefer the 126 Daytonas and after giving it a bit of time and I feel the urge to replace the Daytonas I will. It’s helped me keep the hobby fresh by continuing to hunt… |

The thing about collecting is that there are so many options, between less expensive and very obtainable models from other Swiss manufacturers, to microbrands and even Kickstarter, if you're really brave (I did one of those).

Never bore of things I collect. Very deliberate about what I add, with no consideration whatsoever of what’s “hot” or not. So for me to add something it has to be for a good reason. That said, I feel my collection is more or less complete now and there is no piece out there that I am missing. So call it contentment.

I have no SS pieces in my small collection. Would I add something back? Perhaps…but nothing grabs my attention like PM pieces these days. I offloaded a Batgirl and Starbucks to move into PM….no regrets.

I think having a balance between SS and PM is needed in a collection. SS hold their worth better but there is always a lust for a PM piece.

Always been careful and aware of chasing the new thing or falling into the trap of accumulating for its own sake.

This is an interesting thread, as I’m also considering consolidating and really just focusing on those timepieces which I enjoy and wear.
But I am curious, when you guys/ gals do this, do you lose a lot of money in the trade in process ? Is that something I just have to accept for the sake of moving onto the next piece? I’ve traded in my rolex OP - fortunately that kept most of its value, but wow I lost on a ton on my grand seiko and Tudor … Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I said this in another recent thread. But I wouldn’t mind adding a solid gold piece and maybe offloading one or two watches to make room for that.
I can’t say which specific solid gold watch, because I feel like I’m changing my mind everyday. But maybe I’ll do this over the next year or so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thinking of moving a few SS pieces for a PM myself but with the market right now, it's a hard decision. Contemplated trading SS Skydweller (white dial jubilee) and TT Rootbeer plus a few $K for WG pepsi blue dial but couldn't make the numbers work.

Your watches your life your choice. There's no point in keeping something you don't like, the thing I would ponder is wearing comfort. I haven't yet met a watch that wears more comfortably than a 12 series GMT on a Jubilee bracelet. I personally wouldn't give up that blend of user friendliness in a hurry.
