Dial Swap (and Overhaul) for Datejust 41 from Authorized Rolex Service Center

Greetings,

I have a Datejust 41 that originally came in a silver dial that was initially purchased in 2019. I ultimately wanted the blue dial and contacted Rolex on what I need to do to get that done.

When I spoke with a Rolex rep on the phone, they said that they will only allow a dial swap five years after the initial purchase date and an overhaul is also required, even if you don’t want one. Rolex seems to be “all or none” about their service policy. I had my watch overhauled by the Beverly Hills RSC (the overhaul was mediocre at best; polishing wasn’t that great and the watch running 3 seconds fast on average after the overhaul).

So I waited and took my watch to a jeweler (Bhindi in Glendale) who’s an authorized dealer and service center for Rolex, since in the LA area the Rolex Service Center was shut down earlier this year.

The overhaul was about 800 bucks, the dial was 420 and almost 100 dollar was for the hands. So the total with tax was over 1300 dollars.

I have to say I am quite pleased with the service on my watch although it took over 2 months (the dial was the main reason), the service was great. The watch is running under a second a day fast; very pleased with the accuracy. The dial was swapped to the blue one and it looks gorgeous. The polishing was perfect. Love the leather service travel pouch in green that they gave me too.

Has else did a dial swap from Rolex recently? Love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for sharing about your experience. Interesting, could you have swapped it for any current production dial, I.E. - Wimbledon or Mint Green?

I actually swapped it to the blue dial. I did consider swapping to the mint green but went with the blue dial and I am very pleased with my decision.

Dial Swap (and Overhaul) for Datejust 41 from Authorized Rolex Service Center

I just got my Zenith Daytona back from the Dallas RSC and I had my black dial swapped out for the white dial. I also had them replace the hands as well. I was expecting them to say no when I asked but was pleasantly surprised when they said I could change to a different color dial. Considering how much a dial is on the secondary market, the cost to swap it at the RSC was pretty reasonable.

Awesome. How much did the dial swap cost you? As I mentioned earlier, my dial cost me 420 bucks. I’m assuming the Daytona will be more expensive.

It’s definitely better to get it from Rolex because I know the aftermarket would be more expensive.

Definitely! People are asking over two grand for used Daytona dials so this was a no brainer.
