Howard Hughes taught us... one can collect anything.

My interest in SS Daytona ended when the odd ceramic bezels entered the scene. They just look... I don't know.

Happily just found a RG Daytona on oyster. Would definitely love a SS Daytona with SS bezel, but I'm not sophisticated enough to buy a good vintage.

Daytona is steel at retail.

Any other decision is a mistake.

Just one man’s opinion.

I personally love the aesthetics of most PM Daytonas much more than the SS. The issue I have with SS Daytonas are 1) they are VERY abundantly available (even if not at MSRP), 2) the dials are abit dissapointing.

The PM dials on the other hand always look much more sophisticated and high end, and certain configurations, like the Oyster Flex or a FULL gold bezel are only available in PM configurations and just feel more "classic".

For everyday wear I would always go OF and for collecting, I would go PM.

The Panda is legendary. Until you hold it next to a PM on oysterflex.

Its obvious theyre in a different league, and rightly so since the PM costs more than 2x SS (at retail)

I actually love them both and hope to have both someday. But if
I could only keep one it would be PM.

Honestly, I’ve never seen a Daytona I didn’t like. It’s not favorite watch model.

If I were to choose to have only one, it would be this one:

You can't go wrong with either of them, but for the ones listed, I would go SS.

My favorite YG 11 series variant. Hopefully one day!

I have both a panda and PN, the gold is light years more impressive. IMO

As a collector the SS Daytona. Which is a better watch is much more subjective. Out of all of my watches i prefer my YG OF Daytona. The PM dials are miles ahead of the SS variants. Plus I like the ceramic bezel. YMMV.

I have both.

Both will please you. PM will be easier to get as MSRP from an AD.

PM is noticeable heavier on your wrist. In a satisfying way.

Had both. SS in white, WG with blue dial. Both were just too difficult to use, I use a chrono often. Hype, go with steel. For chrono use, choose another brand. IWC chrono for example is a very usable chrono.

For a chronograph to actually use, it is tough to beat the Omega Speedmaster. Easy to read and functional non screw down pushers.

Panda SS is incredibly boring on the wrist. Can’t compete with PM

That sounds pretty interesting to me. Could you elaborate on that a bit more?

Couldn't agree more. The SS Panda was my grail but so difficult to get from an AD and not worth double the price to go grey. My AD suggested one day to consider a PM Daytona. I thought on it for a day and put my request in with my AD for a RG on OF. Four months later it arrived. It's beautiful. In my book a SS Panda can't hold a candle to this one. And my thirst for a SS Daytona has vanished, as this one is just so much better in so many ways.

Right there with you. I picked up a 515 and theres really no need for another Daytona. The sundust dial is mesmerizing in its ability to conform to every situation.

I think you have to separate a PM Daytona on a rubber strap verses a PM Daytona on a PM bracelet because there is a huge difference.

Agree. And the OF Daytona is the clear winner due to its ceramic bezel and the contrast it adds to the watch face.

Yes. Rubber strap Daytona’s are in a league of their own.
