Engraving

Has anyone ever had an engraving on their watch? Obviously not good for resale but other thought good or bad?

Thank you in advance!

If you have the caseback engraved, buy another one so that you can swap it out if and when you sell/trade/etc.

i have a soft spot for engraving but I would like to look for an engraver that can do it by hand rather than by machine / laser. I wonder if there are anyone in this forum who knows of a solid old school engraver.

This question has been asked quite often.

I’m with movieguy.

I would buy and engrave a replacement caseback and keep the original one in the box.

You then have the best of both.

I've thought about it but never done it for any of my watches.
I did have a watch engraved for my father though.

Recently bought an OP31 for my daughters 21st birthday and had it engraved by my AD for £80. They apparently sent it back to Rolex who did the engraving. I was given few fonts to choose from.
Very pleased with the results.

A little off topic, but what a lovely thing to do for your daughter - credit to you.

DL Rides has a sub that he had fully engraved case and bracelet…it’s an absolute stunner! As far as a more simple caseback engraving, go for it! Worst case you can buy a replacement case back if you decide to sell down the road.

What king of engraving? A personalized note on the caseback or full scroll and beadwork on the entire case?

It's personal to commemorate something special. Go for it.
