I will bid with all my savings, plus my children's piggy banks. Move aside Zach.

Guess I am the only one, not for me at all. At least it is for a good cause.

You're not alone, guiding the lily springs to mind.

it's an absolute horror , reminds me of the 19th century guns and the craze for engraving engine cases on choppers back in the 70's & '80's ..naff at best

but again hope someone pays way over what it's worth..

It's a beautiful example of the engraver's art.

How could you keep it clean except by steam cleaning every month or so?

Oh, wait, no schmutz would ever get inside its future home.

It should go through the roof since it is a one-off factory engraved piece

Seems like a relatively low cost, low effort way to allow PP to create a piece unique for a charity auction and have it raise a ton of money. So all in all, a win-win.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that reading comprehension is not your forte.

Edit:
Or no, I still don't understand! You say that PP created an inexpensive version of a modified 5711 that they donate to charity and you seriously complain about this? maybe sarkasm?

You're right, sometimes I write more, but usually not at all and in relation to the Cubitus and everything that's going down here in the forum on Patek Philippe in this context, I just had to hit the keys today!

What I was saying is that for Patek to have someone carve a 5711 was not a monumental effort for them. I believe they have created some unique movements for their charitable donations in the past. Now that is phenomenally time consuming and requires a huge effort from many people. But to produce a 5711, I feel like is not a giant use of resources. And then to have perhaps one person modify it by creating their artwork on the watch is also, relatively speaking, not something that would require Patek to pull a bunch of talented artists off the assembly process. It would just require them to allocate one talented individual.

The other part of my post was that it would sell for lots of money as it would still be one of one, providing the charity with a large donation. So it would be a win win. Patek doesn't have to allocate a lot of their folks to produce the watch, and bidders would still go crazy and bid the unique piece up to huge dollars (or Swiss francs).

I was not denigrating anyone in my comments. Hopefully this is clear.

Looks like a Patek and a Magrette had a love child in New Zealand.
