Yes, when you have a long high value purchase history.

So in another sense, no, you have to pay to play.

But, I bet there will be at least one (unconfirmed) story that a person will just walk in and able to buy a SS daytona for MSRP. In reality, that doesn't happen.

Possible though highly unlikely. Would probably require buying here and there for best chance at one.

My 12 panda was my first Rolex from AD but I do have spend and rapport. Took 2 days.

Does anyone know what is the chances and what it actually takes to get one from an AD? I don't see myself buying one on the grey market for awhile, and wanted to know if it was even attainable. How long it usually takes and how much average you would have to spend?

Thanks in advance.

The only model that trumps the Daytona from AD is the GMT .

I’ve purchased a few Daytonas over the last 25 years.
It took me over a year to get my first Zenith powered Daytona years ago. And that was with a substantial purchase history of jewelry and other watches. Unfortunately, the dealer lost Rolex almost a decade ago.

In the last 12 months, my new dealer has gotten me the Oyster Perpetual Green at 41mm, Daytona White Gold on Oysterflex and Daytona Stainless White. Each took approximately 3-4 months to receive. The bulk of my purchase history with this dealer has been other watches, watch winders and a few bracelets.

I know exactly which AD you’re referring to

I don’t believe spend is all that matters but it is unlikely to ever be a first purchase from a new AD. My current 116500 was my third watch from my current AD, BLNR then BLRO before that so $18K in purchases. I have known my SA for much longer than at this AD, longevity and familiarity are important too.
