I owned a few AKs from the 80s and I can't recall ever seeing a red AK.

Montecristo, I think Skye was refering to the word "Air-King" printed in red as opposed to the dial colour being red. That's the way I took it.

You are correct, the AK comes in a variety of dial colours including salmon (pinkish).

1981 Rolex Oyster Air-King Red Dial Signature.

Hi Chaps,
I'd never seen one either, but I guess Skye is refering to this one on eBay UK, item number 280050438037 have a look and make your own minds up.
I think it is probably a refinish, but who knows.

Myself have never seen one or heard of one the only red associated with the Airking was on the English Canadian market Airking-dates red date wheels as far as I know. But suppose its possible a special country market watch limited edition in the 80s.

Hi Skye,
I have followed this guys auctions for a couple of years as his descriptions are always like a novel and make me laugh and he come up with some great watches although most are overpriced have a look at all his other listings.
I is a genuine Rolex, but I would expect the dial to be a refinish.
I could be wrong though, I am no expert.
The only sure fire way to find out is buy it and hav it serviced at Rolex in Bexley and they will tell you, but by then it is too late.
Cheers,

Spark.

All that writing for a 685GBP watch. Imagine how much he would write if he was selling a 20,000GBP one???

More than likely a redial though. If you like the look of that watch, go for it.

Admitantly, it does look good.

You can always change the dial.

It's not a HUGE amount of money, and it's not as if it's a hugely rare and collectable watch (contrary to what the seller says), so devaluing it is not much of an issue.
