i just went to put my DJ on and the crown is missing!!!???

i dont even know what to do...
i feel sick.

Oh no... any idea how it happened?
Break out the metal detector I say. I certainly hope this is nothing serious, and I'm sure that you'll find it no worries.

Sam, hopefully it's nothing more than it just loosened and fell off but, since that is not suppost to happen then I think I'd be on my way down to your watch person.

Had that happen one time myself.

Tried to set a watch one time and the crown and tube came right
out.
Stuck it back in and headed to the ADs.

Al can give a much better explamation of the problem, but I think it's a little screw inside that can some times work loose. No big deal to fix, but you'll need a new crown and tube if you can't find the old one.

I'd head to an AD or a watchmaker and see if they can source a part. I want to say about $21 USD or so.

How old is the DJ and when was the last tune up?

Sorry to hear that, Sam. But how on earth could it have happened?

Listen up, pal....don't worry. Try and look for the crown, but if you can't find it, just take the watch into your AD. It's best he open it up and have a quick check for moisture, etc. and then he'll put in a new crown.

Well, as the others have stated, if you locate the crown (or even if you don't), that can be fixed up in no time by a trip to an authorized Rolex watch shop. Best of luck with this. Keep us informed.

still have not found it

, i will try and get it looked at tomorrow before i fly out to moscow, i dont know how long it will take to find a replacement.... if i try a few of the vintage/antique watch dealers i mght get lucky. thanks to everyone for their help

ive just had to go out and buy a cheapy watch(still automatic though) as i felt naked without one.

its fixed (and so is my laptop!) unfortunately i cant post pics for a bit, but will put some up tomorrow hopefully.

i was charged £60/$100 for the crown and stem, i thought this was a lot but was so desperate to get it done i paid it. it was worth it as it now feels soo much better when winding/changing date. it must have been getting loose for ages-i had always assumed it was down to the watches age.

since then i have got a beautiful seamaster(i think 60s?) will post pics soon.

good to be back!

i know the guy is a vintage rolex lover, so he would do a good job- i just thought he would have all the bits to do it there and then in exchange for some breakfast
