Vintage Rolex watch shop in NY

Hi, I am here in NY for business trip and would like to check out some shops that sell vintage Rolex, prefer in Manhattan area. Could anyone give me some recommendation? Thanks!

Checkout the vintage shop under Grand Central Station. As well as another shop across the street from the Rainbow Room at 30 Rockefeller Center.
Good luck,

Also in NYC you might want to visit...

Deco Fine Jewelery on the corner of 42nd & 5th Avenue across from the Public Library. Patrick is a good guy with plenty of nice old Rolex and other vintage watches.
And my personal favorite, Tempvs Fvgit at the front of the Antiques Showplace, 40 W 25th Street btwn Broadway & 6th Ave. George is a great guy with lots of cool vintage pieces and an extremely honorable gentleman.
Tell 'em Tom sent ya!
Good hunting,
T.

Watch Plaza is an amazing store for rare highly collectible vintage pieces. They are on 57th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenue. They are closer to Seventh on the North sidewalk.

Just wanted to update this thread. I was wandering around Soho and Chinatown today. The shops listed at 54 Macdougal are no longer -- the building was vacant. Also, the 88 Bowery St was mostly Chinese jewlers -- I saw little by way of watches. Perhaps the Alltiques booth wasn't setup today. Thought this would help others in the future who may refer to this list.

Oops, I'm sorry. Usually the Alltiques is open, but sometimes he may come in late, after lunch time. If you went around the block to K&E Jewlery I bought my Explorer from the watchmaker in the back, he's a good guy.

Here's a little more feedback to help update the listing (includes my perpective as a buyer):

1. Central Watchband - Very nice guys, but no real vintage Rolex sports models selection (nothing pre 80s).
2. Aaron Faber - Very nice peices and storefront, but pricey!
3. Joseph Edwards - No vintage Rolex sports models.
4. Deco - No vintage Rolex sports models.
5. Plaza - Over priced and aggressive sales tactics (I wasn't allowed out of the store until I spoke with the owner, Lee -- I was literally locked in).
6. Manhattan Band - Looked mostly like Citizen and Seiko to me ...

Overall, my trip to the big city has been disappointing for Vintage watches. It was fun experiencing the tour though!

Sorry to hear about your trip. A lot depends on timing (if they have the model you want when you visit), so found that calling ahead helps to narrow your search.

Some feedback on my last tour:

Tom is exactly right about Deco and Tempus Fugit! Patrick at Deco is super warm and friendly, and offered some good prices. Also, Deco does have vintage Rolex sports models (when I visited at least)....they had a red sub and a 5513 on offer.

George at Tempus Fugit was a perfect gentleman! He took the time to show his watches, but his selection wasn't as extensive.

John at Alltiques is also a top guy, knows his stuff and took the time to show and tell. Of all the places, he's the one with that rare sub that you've only heard about!

These guys really made me see why you buy the seller first.....to make contacts for future purchases, to verify a watch, or simply to chat!

Wow! Is tarrytown legitimate? They have a 950 dollar rolex, a 2900 vacheron, and other great watches for cheap! I know condition still has to be considered, but those prices are tremendous!

Tarrytown is def legit. Good friend bought NIB AP Royal OAK GMT Power Reserve there for 8500 and it's a 16,000 watch. Another bought 1968 DJ (refurb) for 1600. Great place.

Dang, I got to get over there again. They didn't have much the few times I went over there a while ago, but times were a little different back then...
