New gator for my 312
Beeing at Paris this month, i went to ABP shop and order a custom made gator strap for my 312.
They did a really great job, the strap was done with perfection. If you need an exotic leather strap, i think that ABP is a top choice. Here are some pics, enjoy... |

looks good....what does the strap the 312 come with look like?
I only say that because the strap in your pics looks "similar" to the standard 104 strap...

I like how it bulges in the middle while the stitching section is sewn in deeply. Reminds me of Cartier straps. The OEM Panerai crocodile strap is flat from edge to edge.

A little tip on posh cities like Paris.
An espresso in a cafe directly on the Champs-Élysées costs about 5 Euro. Walk down the little by-street that kinda disects the Champs-Élysées and you could find better coffee for half the price. Point? Price is not directly related to quality all the time. Im not saying this strap is not worth it's price (as value is relative to each human individual), in fact its look like true workmanship which is evident around the edges of the strap. But what do I know, I paid Rob Montana an extra $ 70 (42% of strap cost) for expedited shipping as I wanted the strap for an upcoming trip and then decided it is not suitable for the trip. Value is relative and ultimately decided by the end user but there are methods of measuring it. |

You get what you pay for and in this case, you ARE paying for the best. Makes the OEM straps look like just ok...

Yes, you are absolutly right, the leather quality is a bit better than the original Oem strap. We can't see it on the pic, but when you get it on hand you can fell the difference.

Alex, can we see some higher quality images please. Like Chris I also like the wide scale part of the alligator that they used.

i am sorry but i can't take any better pic right now because i don't have a good cam on hand. Anyway for your information when you order a custom gator strap in the shop, you can choose exactely the portion of the leather that you want (large scale, small scale or a mix of both...). |
