the "COSC" really cheapens the look of an otherwise classic timepiece.

I was never a fan of it
I ended up getting one from 78 in a trade and really find myself enjoying wearing it at times.... I like it much more than the regular sub as I am not a fan of the cyclops but I can't wear a ND watch to work so its a night and weekend warrior. Great watch to have in a collection... Tough, comfortable and no nonsense

The inner ring engraving is not so bad but the "CSOC" language on the face just clutters the simple elegance and utilty of the watch, and IMHO is nothing more than advertising. I look at the 14060M as the closest thing to the original James Bond era Sub. In that respect, it should be kept clean like the original.

so do you think they should be certified and not put the extra text on the dial, or is the certification a joke all around?

With or without COSC certification is a matter of preference. The beauty of the 14060M is that it's a modern version of a couple of classics.
Without the COSC certification it resembles a 5513. With the COSC certification it looks like a 5512. Both COSC certified and non COSC certified subs have a long history. It's just a bit of script at the end of the day. Neither one is necessarily truer to the original ethos of the sub, it's just how you feel about it. |

Looked at a new COSC 14060M at an AD over the weekend. IMO, I really liked the combination of the lug-holes, the earlier bracelet and the Rehaut engraving/COSC marking. A slight evolution but has not been carried away to extremes like the DSSD or the Day Date II.

My 14060M Vseries should arrive sometime this week....i'm sure it will look just as nice as my GMTII Coke.
