A little holiday cleaning and polishing

Two years ago my wife and I got our first Rolex watches. Every year at this time, I like to do a little polishing to the PCL's and polished parts of the cases. Today I thoroughly washed all our good watches and polished the Submariner and DJ. Nothing too extreme, you'll see some scratches still, but most of the lightest superficial swirls are gone. The side of my wife's DJ case was pretty marred, now it's back to near-mirror status! Also, I think the last picture shows the color difference between 316L of my SMP and the 904L with the Exp2. The 316L seems "warmer" whereas the 904L is "colder?"

I sent you the needed equipment to do the job, buddy! If I had the $$$ I'd be somewhere warmer right now, maybe even NZ!

Cape Cod cloth. I tape off the brushed portions then slowly and lightly polish the gold PCL's. I use a little more pressure on the SS parts (i.e. the case).

Those Cape Cod cloths work miracles. They've saved me from having to send watches in for a refinish on a couple of recent buys. I have found that with care, I don't even have to tape off the brushed parts.

You motivated me to do a little polishing on my Sub this evening. It's only 43 down here in Southern Arizona. It is supposed to get into the 60's by the end of the week. I talked to a friend in MN over the weekend so I won't rub it in.

I know the feeling, I'd like a 116231 with a white dial for my dressy watch!

Unfortunately I don't have the cash flow and my SMP wouldn't make for a straight trade!

116261 TB for me. I passed up on an M Serial one with all its boxes and papers for 4300 bucks several months ago and have regretted ever since.
