Rolex President Day Date - couldn't resist
I finally added my grail to my collection - good price too £3500.....Off to Rolex in Bexley soon for a full service. It feels heavy as real gold should, but I'm a little surprised it only weighs 124 grams - are the mid links hollow? They don't look hollow?
Watch is in good condition (excuse the bad photos) just the crystal and a polish needed I hope!! What do you think guys?? |

Congrats on a great watch.
How many links does it have? I'm not going to comment on the bracelet. |

Please take that baby to a watchmaker for some buffing and polishing. It is a gorgeous vintage DD, why not make it look even more stunning by having it freshened up.

Nice catch. Be sitting down if Bexley quote you for refurbing the bracelet though...i saw one chap on ebay with the same one who'd been quoted about £3000 by them to restore just the bracelet!

I would imagine those center links are hollow and prone to "stretch" if not cared for properly, judging by the T (Tritium) markers on your dial. There are many threads on here that explain what actually happens (dirt getting into the pins and boring out the holes into ovals) that give the bracelet the stretch effect.
Get that baby cleaned up and see if you can get a bracelet service to tighten things up. I've heard that bracelet services can be quite reasonable - especially when considering the price of a new authentic YG president bracelet. |

Nice looking watch! Give it a little patience and some TLC and it will be fine. Luck with that bracelet workup - its still got plenty of life left and can be tightened up a little!

Buy a new bracelet and keep the old as is in a box.
Getting them tightened is expensive and doesn't really hold up well. Beautiful vintage piece. Links are not solid on the older ones.
