Hi,

I'm just starting on the road to finding and buying the right Rolex. At the moment I've narrowed down to 2 models: the 16622 platinum/silver yachtmaster, which I favour for its look, and the 16610 submariner for it's timeless look and instant recognition as a Rolex.

Is there an option to mix the two with a submariner with silver face?

I've only seen this on the 16613 with the two tone band and blue bezel, however, I prefer a s/s band and black bezel.

Are you referring to the Serti slate dial? If so-that comes on the Sub TT--never seen on a SS watch unless someone perhaps did as after market addition.

No, the SS Sub comes only with a black dial. You could possibly do some swapping with Serti dial options, but that could get difficult and expensive for your first.

If you like the looks of the YM, then get the YM. Outside of depth rating, it's functionally indistinguishable from the Sub--and I doubt you'll be diving below the YM's 100M depth rating anyway. As far as the Sub being "instantly recognizable"...many of us consider that a drawback, as every fourth person seems to have a 16610.

With the YM, you'll have a beautiful, classic Rolex that is "unique" in the sense that it's certainly one of the lesser-worn models out there. A definite winner!!

TT = two tone (Rolex uses the term "Rolesor"); simply means stainless steel and gold.
AG = all gold
WG = white gold
YG = yellow gold

Very brief lesson in TRF-ese.

I`m having a serti dial put on my stainless sub, then I`m putting on a older blue TT bezel (the gold looks silver) just to see how I like it. I`ll post pics when it is done.

I have seen SS with diamonds, they did not look good IMO..and believe the dials were mostly aftermarket.

This is a 16613 with Rolex Slate Serti Dial.
