Rolex Submariner LV or GMT Master II
I am going to purchase my next Rolex by the end of this year but before doing it, I have to start preaching to my girlfriend about it so I don't get bugged when I pop the request out of no where.
I currently have a Sea-Dweller and this will be my thoughts on the next one: Submariner LV: I can get it at its MSRP from an AD in Hong Kong and it is getting rare to own one, so I want to own one before it really gets discontinued. I am not too sure if the green is going to grow on me or not. GMT Master II: I really like this one especially for its two-time zone feature, also I can switch the bezel insert and pretty much create a new watch whenever I want. Comparing the two, I like the GMT a little bit more but I know I can always get it whenever I want yet the LV is rare to get a hand on. Then of course, I won't be able to purchase both of them in the same time, so I am having trouble making a decision. |

A really cool girlfriend would convince you to buy one of them while she went out and discreetly bought the other one for you.
Now print this out and leave it where she can find it. Cut this last line off. :-) |

Get the GMT II with the ceramic bezel.

How can the LV be getting rarer? Rolex has not stopped production of them. If anything, you'll be able to buy it used in a couple years for about the same price as a regular SS Subdate. The SS GMT is a great watch and more different from your SD than the LV Sub.
If you're buying the LV just because you're afraid of it going away, what are the chances that the SS GMT gets maxi-sized and ceramic-ized? Could be that the SS GMT might get discontinued like it's TT and 18k stable mates.

It is really hard to make a decision.
I was thinking GMT being my choice but since the SD is my everyday watch, I was something to bling during special occasions. GMT looks more like an everyday watch as well, the LV is more rare to those that doesn't actually know Rolex thus gives out the magic and make me look bling, haha. The sad part is that, LV and SD are rather similar, maybe the GMT is the way to go. Dang, I am still can't make up my mind. |
