Icon17 National Watch Museum highlights James Bond's Rolex

Thought you all might appreciate some progress reports as we move into the last two months of preparation before "Bond Watches, James Bond Watches" opens at the National Watch & Clock Museum.

Hard even for me to believe (and I've been there!), but the following image has graced the "Upcoming" page of the site for something like two years now. Yes, it's my watch: An Omega 2907.50.91 "Casino Royale" Seamaster Planet Ocean BIG SIZE (limited); I reflected a 1:18-scale model of an Aston Martin DB5 into the anti-reflective-coated crystal, all in-camera.

Pretty pleased with the result.

That aspect of the James Bond watch history will still be represented, of course.

But now we're moving on to focus on what's probably one of the most significant historical aspects of this project. For the first time since Ian Fleming was alive, both his personal Rolex 1016 Explorer and his manuscript for On Her Majesty's Secret Service (in which he described his Explorer as the original, literary James Bond watch) will be together again.

Current

The watch in this photo is actually my own. We've discussed that at some length here, produced very shortly before the Fleming-Bond watch, retaining its original dial.

So, excitement is building!
