Clockwise or counter clockwise

It's March 1st, so it was time to change the day on your Rolex.

I helped set a co-worker's date on her (woman's couple years old) datejust watch today. To change the date I had to turn the crown counter-clockwise. Then I set my datejust (men's 20 years old) and I turned mine clockwise to set the date.

Did they change over the years?

What directions did you turn, and what model?
