Position of crown symbol on the winder.

On my (new) GMT II, the crown symbol on the winder is horizontal: when the watch is flat, the crown's base is on the left.

I have seen photographs where the symbol is upright.

Probably not important, but I was wondering: would the Swiss not make sure that the winder is consistently set the same way on all watches?

The coronet on the crown of my Sub was at 6:00 position with the crown screwed in. I had the crown and tube replaced as part of an overhaul last July, and the new crown has the coronet in just about exactly the same position. I guess it comes down to how the tube is positioned on the lathe when the threads are cut into it.

The only one that is close to lining up perfectly is the blasted LV... (actually almost 12:15 to be exact) I swear it is making my other watches jealous...

to show it who's boss, I'm wearing my SD for a week...

Colemanitis? That 4000 foot club logo is badass!

Btw I can see some differences on the crown. GMT's and Exp's have a flat line under the crown, while Sub's and SD's have three dots......
