Rolex using AR coating on new GMT's ??

could it be, finally? the cyclops on my new gmt is perfect, no glare at all, the glare on the rest of the watch is far improved over the other Rolex's I have owned. I think they are using AR coating on this crystal, does our resident Rolex employee know for sure ??

I have always thought Rolex should use this, and if they are I am very happy!

Anyone have knowledge on this?

Don't know but I really like the double AR on the Planet Ocean, from certain angles, I like the blue tint and make you feel like there's no crystal.

You have a nice GMT! I was waiting for the new SS GMT but personally I give the TT GMT Anv an edge Still looking for the killer deal on the watch.

I am told that Rolex does not want to do that as the coating scratches off like with lenses, and if done inside the lens will distort the colors. I am not sure if this is accurate.

You have got a great watch.
But unfortunately there is no AR coating on TT GMT or any other rolex yet.

Unique crystal

I must admit that the Rolex crystal to me seems different in appearance than any other watch I own, and if its because there's no AR coating, then so be it. I find esp with the thicker crystal of my Sea Dweller that the face looks like very clear ice.

Its a great look in my opinion.

I seem to recall the issue of improved clarity of the cyclops being raised a while ago.
There is certainly no Rolex testimony about surface coating to the crystal.
The answer may be that the location of the crystal (lower) in relation to the bezel gives rise to a lower level of reflected light onto the dial.
In any event it is obviously very pleasing that the appearance of the GMT dial is clearer and not so affected by reflection/glare than before.

I am aware there wasnt ar coating on Rolex, and probably still isnt...but I was curious if our resident Rolex employee knew for sure, as this crystal is different than any other rolex I have had
