Bo here is the story of my Sea Dweller>>>
you believe was a fake.
As some of you know I have a custom Sea Dweller. Itīs a early sapphire model with ref 16660 who is made in 1980. What is custom with it? I have polished the lugs and the middlelinks at the bracelet and it looks like this. Now I feel itīs time to go back to basic with it. Here I have brushed it back to orginal finish and it will looks like this. Now it looks like it was from the start. No it dosenīt. Why??????? When this model was released so have it a matte dial without WG trim around the indexīs. That was only the first years and this one from 1980 should have a matte dial and donīt the replacement dial that are at the watch at the moment. Ok, where did I get one? Not from Rolex, they havenīt made that dial for years. Rolex will put the same dial at the watch like I already have. I have hunt this rare dial for a couple of years and I only found the 1665 dial and it dosenīt fits. That dial even says 2000ft/610m and the rare dial for the sapphire model will says 4000ft/1220m. A few weeks ago I got a mail from a friend who name is Vadim and he pointed out for me where I could find one for sale. So I play in the background and just put a bid on it the last minute and the deal was closed. A few days later the FedEx guy deliver it to me and I was real excited when I pack it up. The seller stated it was in mint condition and have just a little yellowing indexīs, just like it should. And yes itīs in mint condition. So now I have to pack my best friends down, the SD and the CoolPix. Then I have to run down to the watchmaker in the hot dog bar and tell him to just drop this hot dogīs and come with me, I have some urgent work for you. Here we can follow the work when my Sea Dweller got the final touch. Out with the movement and pull off the dial. The "new" dial is on and now he is looking for when the date change. And the final results. Then 6 months later I just run into a mint dial with nice white markers and even correct hands too. So I have to visit the watchmaker again and now the watch looks like this. It works in the water too. Rise up and shine I hope it was worth to wait for. Jocke |

Thanks, Jocke!
Nice work, indeed! I must admit I was astonished by looking at those polished centre links and lugs. But then again: You alreade see them on the Daytona 116520. So I wouldn't be surprised if the SD gets this treatment by Rolex within a few years. The trend DOES go towards more and more *bling-bling*

Jocke,excellent work and pictures
I love the dials without the WG surrounds. The yellow tinted and the newer white. The normal sized hands and the larger hour markers form a nice combination.Perhaps something Rolex can consider. The new maxi dials combined with the larger hands as found on the LV,are too much and let the dials appear too small. |

The Dweller has enough bling as it is.Thats the one thing missing from all the great pics,is that natural spark/shine from the ss on the Dweller. It is a awesome looking watch. |
