How many early LV were actually made?

If the true 50yr anniversary LV are between 9/03-12/30 (3month run), how many in the US can there possibly be? Why was it introduced so late for an "anniversary" model?

Also, were the release dates exactly the same time around the world? For example, are there LVs dated jan'03 from Hong Kong ?

Did someone have a best guess on units based on number of ADs, waiting period, and units per store?

My 16610LV has an F serial number, but the paperwork says it was made in 2003.

Mine is a Y-series LV. Very rare and made for a very short period. The end of '03 and one of the first LV's ever made. How many? Rolex is the only one who knows.

same here mocheen,

I just found a F with paperwork dated just before christmas of Dec'03. Kind of made me think who has the very last true 50 anniversary LV and how many are really out there.

Rolex may have the numbers, but is not important to them. The REAL anniversary model is a brainchild of collectors and dealers to generate demand. If Rolex really wanted to issue a true anniversary model, they should only release it for 1 full yr only and let consumers kill each other for it.

I'm sure there are dealers whos attempting to establish the release day and month of the original Sub to justify some of their 2004 "F" to be a true 50yr anniv. model.

according to the wise owl.... its ......
see video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ0epRjfGLw

either way the anniv was a somewhat limited run being only 7 years or so. it is a unique combination never done before, maybe never again.

the sub finally has a bezel with a bit of splash in SS, to me its like the answer to the pepsi bezel gmt.

its limited enough even if you count them all & in time, i bet they have a solid place in rolex history.

heres to the later 16610LV with the prettier green and with out the weird looking 4.

Some will say millions.

Based on my memory of another member's global dealer survey of SS Daytona / LV / Sub sales ... 70,000 or so.

That's for the TOTAL number of LV subs. I don't go in for the "true" anniversary stuff.

The 116610 has only bee in production since 2010 (2 years)

The 14060M has only been in production since 2008 (3 years).

The 168000 was only in production from 1988 to 1989 (2 years).

I'm sure there are many others...

i knew someone would count a watch that is still in production.

as far as the others

14060m is visually identical to 14060

168000 is from what i recall also visually identical to its what came before and not so different than what came after.

imo the sub with a green ring is visually one of the most drastic cosmetic (intentional) variations of a steel sub since say a milsub or the first subs.

X2, well said. I just don't understand why so many Rolex collectors these days try to make something out of nothing.

It is just a letter before a number guys, means nothing.

I never understand why people think Rolex's are limited when they have sales of 3 billion a year. With that high of a number and Rolex keeping there piehole's shut I would say there are probably a million green subbies out there. Just go to ebay and you will see plenty of them on there every day of the week. If you want a Rolex that is rare do what I did and buy a TT Black Sub. Nobody likes it so you will probably never see one in the real world.
