What people don't know about, they mock!

A friend of mine noticed my GMT, first thing he said was "how much was that" I said, after pointing to his wifes new Nissan car "a lot less than that, but I can use this everyday for the next 5years and it will be worth the same amount, how much will the car be worth?" He replied "probably not much".

This makes sense. A person wouldn't make snide remarkes to you if they didn't care.
When I land mine, it won't be because of a trust fund, or even a huge salary. It will be because I spent years faithfully tucking away my spending money for it.
As my old boss put it, "It's all about how you prioritize your non-essential spending. If a person wants to blow all their money on coffee and the latest gadget or whatever--fine. Frankly I'd rather save for a down payment on this." Then she handed me the keys to her new 3 series and said, "You wanna make a coffee run?"
Heck yeah I did.
I was also chastised once about my interest in expensive watches by an individual who owned several very nice guitars--way nicer than was necessary for a quiet afternoon playing in the living room. I pointed this out, and I haven't heard anything about watches since.
