I saw some pictures where Bob Ridley did a laser weld job on a 16710 on one of the case sides. It was UNBELIEVABLE the before and the after pictures.

I would probably give him a call.

There was a post a while back where Bob Ridley repaired a deep gouge by, if I remember correctly, laser welding and polishing. After the repair you could not determine where the gouoge was.

I recently bought a brand new 2011 Rolex DateJust. Sadly, the day has come where I have chipped it on one of its sides (alcohol+expensive watches apparently do not mix very well ). I have tried polishing it out with a cape cod cloth, and while it worked for a small hairline scratch, it has so far been a no-go on the 2 chips the watch has. At this point, is there basically nothing I can do? Will a service buff be able to get this out, or for example, taking it to my local Tourneau and having it buffed?

Thanks again for any advice you can give.

I would attach pictures, but admittedly my DSLR camera can't focus in close enough to make the chips noticeable. Essentially my question boils down to, if you have a chip instead of a scratch, is there anything that you can do?
Well if your camera cannot focus on it it must be quite superficial just learn to live with it.Watches to get scratched and the odd ding thats a fact of wearing any watch.Myself would wait till normal service if Rolex cannot satisfiable get it out, then its just part of the history of your watch. If its really bad and without a picture cannot tell, there is laser welding but thats normally for quite deep dings..

Hello everyone, so I went ahead and attached some pictures of the watch. As I mentioned, it is very difficult to tell with the camera shot, as I cannot get it to focus close enough (don't have a macro lens).
