Sub-C Winding Issues?
Hello everyone! My Sub-C is only couple months old. I never had any problems with it as it keeps good time well within COSC. Yesterday, I took my PAM 005 off to put back on the Sub-C. The watch's power reserve was completely out. I started to wind the watch. The second hand started to move at the thirty minute marker then stopped randomly at 45 minute marker. I was like WTF?
So I kept winding the watch and the second hand was still not moving. I pushed out the crown towards the date, and moved the dates around. Pushed back in the crown to see the second hand was not moving. I pushed out the crown to change the hours and minutes. I pushed back in the crown to see that the second hand was not moving. Finally, I shook the watch and tapped it to see that the watch started to tick. It's been twelve hours since then and the watch seems to be working perfectly fine. I'm not wearing the watch to test the power reserve and accuracy once more before I take it to the RSC. Has anyone seem to have this problem? The watch is only six months old with warranty remaining. Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated. |

Hmmmm. That would bother me. I wonder if something was "stuck" in the gears or something like that. I'm not an expert at all but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night....

It's well documented that the 3135 mvt. can often stay stopped when wound from a dead stop, even after many turns of the crown, it generally will start to tick after 35 winds or so, but if not, a gentle tap or shake will get it going. I've read numerous posts about this, I once wound a bnib Panerai at a Panerai boutique, after a good 40 turns it still hadn't started. My Sub C has stayed stopped even after 20 turns, a very slight tap gets it started, then it runs perfectly for weeks. I'm 99% sure your watch is fine.

From what I've read this is not uncommon.
You can relax and enjoy your Rolex.

doesnt this issue make the watch less effective/less valueable? doesnt it affect the quality of a decent watch like rolex?!
