Rivet bracelet question?
My 1675 has an original big crown rivet bracelet with a fair amount of stretch to it. I wanted to keep that bracelet on it but I really don't want it to stretch any more and I am a bit scared about the security of it. Since it's 51 years old.
Would you guys wear it on the original bracelet or would you source a newer one for everyday wear? I have a 93150 that I "could" put on it but I think I would be better off with 78360 or 7836. Thoughts from the peanut gallery? |

Will you wear this watch daily ?
I would put on a NATO or something similar just to prevent the watch falling off. At the same time I would try to "service" the riveted, as to have it as a "set" with the watch. I cannot take my eyes off !! Congrats again and again !!

See if your watch maker or bob ridley can do anything with it. A nato would work in the meantime ..maybe one of the brown leather ones u have.

If you are only wearing 1-2 times weekly I see no reason you can't wear it on the Original bracelet. I highly doubt it wll break from use, since those link are folded they would literaly have to unfold themselves for you to lose your watch.
Fantastic looking watch!!! |

I think a rubber strap would look great on it!

Riveted bracelet.
If the stretch needs sorting, get it done and just use it. The watch has lasted 50 years on it, so providing it is not crazily worn, being used couple of times a week will not hurt.
I have a 5513 on its original rivet that had some links that were out of line and managed to take them apart and put it back together and now its fine. Good luck well done on getting such a great watch! Cheers |

On that watch, I like the idea of a nato or zulu. The rugged look of this watch would not look as nice on a newer bracelet. Just my opinion of course.

I would wear it on the Rivet bracelet or that nice brown leather strap you showed on your pics. A newer bracelet would look off.

can the riveted bracelets be refurbished to tighten them up so that they can be made more secure?
I would keep it on a bracelet instead of a strap IMO. |

Nice watch and a very good find. Its 1 of my favorites. I wear mine on a NATO strap most of the time but IMHO the only bracelet that looks right on this 1675 as its a thin case is a riveted bracelet and my personal favorite is a 6636 expandable or a 7206 both are Swiss made variants. I am not to fond of the USA made ones as I think they are flimsy and the links are not proportionate like the Swiss ones. The watch to me just doesn't look right on the thicker 78360 links. I would have yours rebuilt by any one of the bracelet masters and you will be able to enjoy it again. Can you show us a pic of the big crown logo inside the blades as I have never seen a USA bracelet with 1?
