Stunning watch, as far as I can tell authentic, the seller sure has good feedback, but that price will go a lot higher before the 3 days are up.

The first thing I noticed is that the watch is not a "President."
Actually, there is no such watch as a Rolex "President." The "President" is a style of bracelet. This watch is a DateJust and has an Oyster bracelet. Also the date does not look right to me, but there could be a matter of perspective and whether or not a Rolex of that era would have had the instantaneous date change feature. I'd be cautious of a seller who can't identify properly the watch being sold. Everything else looks solid. According to the text, the bezel is third-party and the "original" dial has had the diamonds added.

If you read the description carefully it will say after marker bezel and dial though the watch is an original. It makes the watch more affordable.
A totally original and stock model will probably double in price. Here is the link and pic. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 |

You do know that this watch is 30 year old and has been "rebuilt" with aftermarket parts to make it look recent..
Also, as stated, it is not a "President" at all, it is simply a Ladies gold Datejust. Sometimes the gold Ladies Datejusts are called President models, but they really need the President bracelet to get that name... It appears to be in very good condition though. Do your research on the seller to ensure that you will actually get what is pictured. If the price stays reasonable, it would be a very nice time-piece......

Wanted to share an experience I had with this seller (mainimpulse) about a year ago. O bought a mid-80s datejust with a redial. The watch looked very very nice, well polished, etc. However, after about six months of light wear the applied Rolex logo at the 12 came lose and detached from the dial! I contacted the seller and insisted on a refund under his one year warranty policy. He initially stated that the warranty covered only repairs, not refunds, but given the serious flaw he agreed to a full refund. The refund transaction was very smooth and the seller was a real gentleman. I even spoke to him on the phone and he told me a lot about his business. Obviously a man with a great passion for watches.
So bottom line, Mainimpulse is an honnest seller of genuine restored vintage Rolexes... but, I do have misgivings about the quality of the restorations. It's very possible that my experience was unique, but hard to tell. |
