How do they get away with this?

A quick perusal of the web reveals many vendors who proudly sell Folexes.

Here are some quick examples:

Blue Fakes

Go Replicas

TodaysWatch

Global Replica

There are even websites dedicated to giving out advice on how to buy the best fakes, e.g., Replica Insider.

What gives? Maybe it's like trying to put out a forest fire with a garden hose, but I can't believe Rolex isn't more aggressive in protecting its brand.

Or am I wrong?

Look at the bright side -- at least they are not passing off fakes as originals and charging a premium price.

If someone is dumb enough (shameless enough) to spend that kinda money on a fake, hell, let 'em. After a little while passes, they'll find out that they would have been happier with an equally priced Seiko.

With Rolex selling just under a million wataches each year...

And replicas selling an estimated 5 million plus each year.

It's easy to see how 1 company cannot have the resources to shut down an empire considerably bigger than itself.

It's like having a basketball team of 1 against a full squad of 5...Tough to beat.

That also means that for every 6 Rolexes you see, only 1 of them is likely to be genuine...

I looked at Blue Fakes and checked their Pespsi GMT. It has a ROLEXROLEX inner ring on the dial and a green 24 hour hand. Also the "gmtmaster" writing onthe dial is green. Who in his right mind spends $800 on a fake anachronism like that? Lots of regular brand watches out there at that pricepoint that will last a lot longer.

Even if you buy the best fake watch there is somebody that will know that is fake and that's yourself. Even if you have the best fake you will still want to taste the real thing. It's not worth to spend 800$ to buy a fake. Save the money and by yourself a genuine watch that yuo are going to enjoy

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!"

And even though Rolex S.A. might not be (well IS not) flattered, still Rolex gets free advertisement. And IMHO, owners of fake Rolex watches are potential buyers. They WANT to have the real thing, and when they try one on, they're hooked.

That's what a local chap put up in defence of his pirate DVD / PC Games empire when he got nicked.

He still went down for 9 months.

Really don't get high end fakes. Why spend $800-1000 on a fake GMT when you can spend a little more (1200) and get a nice vintage Air King. That's like spending 25 grand on a Ferrari replica based on a Pontiac Fiero when you could get a real 1985 308 GTB for 30K.....

Heck I walked into an antique store once and got a decent condition vintage omega dress watch for 184 bucks, much rather have that than a $300 fake Seamaster...

They are proud of their authentic replicas. They are even willing to show you how to tell a bad replica. I'm not surprised they haven't started "The Rolex Replica Forum" or TRRF.

There are many replica forums!!!! They take replicas serious. Its amazing how detailed they get with the entire replica industry. Ive actually learned alot from a rep forum. Ive never posted but reading some of the reviews Ive learned alot about genuine watches.
Hey just a thought on Replicas. I know Rolex gets busy fighting the replica industry. But my thought and maybe im wrong is... if your into replicas sooner or later you'd prob get sick of replica being fake. You'd prob after time go buy the real deal after your rep keeps falling apart. Sooner or later someones prob going to buy the real deal. I'd think Rolex wouldnt care, unless they are so concerened because some fakes are so good they trick newbies. Alls Im saying is I'd think replicas make rolex money after awhile.

This whole concept of "Replica" annoys me. They should call them what they are, counterfeit.

REALLY, Al! You are being a bit harsh now, aren't you, by suggesting calling them "counterfeits". That is a STRONG word!

I have a milder one: -Rolex watches!
