Quality of Breitling for Bentley
I am trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on my next watch purchase being a Breitling (Bentley type model preferred). I have little familarity with this brand. I have been trolling this site as well as a Breitling site recommended by TRF member and it appears that there have been instances of quality issues brought up. I don't want to buy new and would definitely attempt to purchase through TRF but now I'm worried about quality. Any thoughts/experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Breitling produces a very good watch, i've had 18 including a few Bentleys. As with any brand, eventually one experiences some technical issues but as a whole Brietling does produce a very good watch and every single one of their watches are submitted for a COSC certificate which means that they're very accurate timepieces.
Preowned is definitely a good way to go in terms of value but just make sure it is complete with all papers and boxes. If it comes with the international warranty card and has been purchased in the past two years, then you will have the remainder of the factory two year warranty. There are some amazing Breitling fakes on the market so be very careful by making sure the seriel number on the caseback matches the seriel number that is stamped on the warranty card and printed on the COSC certificate. If you are buying on here or the other breitling site bsource, you should be fine. |

Thanks much for the feedback. It was good to hear such positive experiences especially since I'm really leaning towards Breitling being the next purchase! Also thanks for the warnings on the fakes. I'm hoping that purchasing within the TRF family will help protect me.

Breitling pushes warranty claims to the front of the line, 3-4 weeks. Out of warranty claims is more like 6 weeks. Of course the service time depends on what needs to be done, small adjustments can be done in shorter time. You can send them a beat up scratched up ling and it will come back looking factory fresh, they really do a nice job.

They make a good, solid watch.
If you are looking for the Bentley line... you are in luck. The Bentley line is heavily marked up and 50% off MSRP is not uncommon. I was offered 50 off at an AD just about ten days ago.

Now this heavy discount, does that mean that the Bentley line does not hold it's value as well?

I've just bought a Mark VI and it's great, running smooth and great build quality. It's a 42 mm model with a platinum bezel. It wasn't a popular seller due to the expensive bezel and I believe production stopped in 2010. Bought it from an authorised dealer with a 40+% discount brand new ! There are bargins but haggle hard.
B for Bs are great watches, personally I think over priced but who pays the full price? Not me |

I did have a technical problem with mine, just out of warranty. They did not honor a warranty repair, but the local rep. made partial good on repair costs. They seem to be more temperamental than other high-line watches, but are great value, if you buy right!

I have a Steelfish. It's a quality, accurate, well finished, and beefy watch.
But, it's not a Rolex.

Breitling are beautiful watches, with great quality control/built quality/finishing on the case/bracelet, you are certainly buying into alot of watch for the money.
Best of luck!
