IMO Rolex gave this movement a new number for a reason.

This shows the parts in the 3186 movement that are not interchangable with the 3185 movement.
Yes, have seen before, what I was trying to say is that there is very little visible difference between the 3, except a bit of blue and a slightly larger diameter movement with the 3187. All of the other changes are internal.

Special Order ~ Sapphire Case Back for EXP II

[*Mod closed my other thread I started w/ info below, so I am posting here on this thread (not sure why they closed it, since I don't know of a better place than "discussion" to post this sort of thing??)]*:

>>>How many of you TRF'ers would be willing to put a deposit down on a special order German made Sapphire case back for the new Rolex EXP II 42mm??

Here is the skinny... I am communicating w/ Thomas Preik, who makes Sapphire Case Backs for Rolex and Omega watches. His website can be seen at http://www.CustomWatchConcepts.com . He is only one of two companies I have found that manufacture Sapphire case backs for a Rolex (The other is Swiss Watch Customs , and I have not spoke with them).

Unfortunately, Thomas has not made a Sapphire case back for the new 216570 Explorer II, but currently manufactures them for most of the other Rolex models (Swiss Watch Customs does not make one for the 42mm EXP either). I would like to ask Thomas to do a custom run for the 216570 for the TRF members who put a deposit down, specifically for this new 42mm EXP. The million dollar question... do you want one???

Current prices range from $180-$220 US for the existing case backs on Thomas's Custom Watch Concept's site. I have not been quoted a price yet for a 216570, but certainly the more TRF'ers the better for a custom run (of course , once he makes these, I am sure he will continue to make them, so they really won't be custom for long).

Thank you for your interest and please PM me, or post a reply here, so I can get a tally of interested parties, and forward this count to Thomas Preik.

Note: I will not be collecting money or taking orders! I am only pitching this to Thomas (whom I have already communicated with via email). I am just the guy, who for selfish reasons (I want one!) is pursuing all means to accomplish my goal, and help a few other TRF'ers in the process.

P.s. Mods, if I am posting something which I shouldn't, then please let me know. When you closed my thread w/ post above, I did not receive anything from you as to why???

I love the exhibition caseback. I wish Rolex still made models that had them (last one was in the 40's I think).

Rolex movements are like tanks...unfortunately they're just as ugly. Leave the solid case back on. ;-)
