What is wrong with eBay???

It is becomming very obvious to me that the Ebay "scam police" are missing the boat on the Rolex fakes being posted on eBay. I thought they lost a major lawsuit over the posting of fake Rolex watches on their German website??? Or is eBay just overwhelmed with Rolex garbage???

Perhaps they should hire the TRF WatchOut!! sleuth's to screen the Rolex postings! Ban the posters immediately if the pictures are fuzzy or out of focus. If the pictures are clear, a good percentage of those are stolen, also.

FUSTRATING!!!!

There are millions and millions of listings. They aren't capable of checking every single post so by your alerts it helps them catch these culprits and shut them down. Also not everyone of their "experts" are not trained in catching the minor flaws.

Pretty sure we are not experts on every fake out there.

Good thing we have this thread to help warn many from falling into these traps.

...hmmmmm...

...unfortunately, Rolex is NOT part of the VERO program.

...it is my understanding that Rolex opted out of participating in the VERO program.

...however, they COULD become part of it if they WANTED to.

It's caveat emptor on eBay, and I think this is very well known. It is the individual buyer's responsibility to do due diligence. eBay is happy to make money on any and all sales...that is the sad fact of its ethics.

Online merchandise includes a sea of fakes. If you don't know that, and you're a Rolex buyer, you're missing a rather big fact.

I think far too many people take chances bidding on questionable items with the sole justification that ebay and/or paypal will reimburse them if that item is counterfeit. I personally would not take that gamble on something that I could not afford to lose. The scammers know that sooner or later they will make a sale that will slide by the protective measures that are in place.

eBay is for the well informed regarding Rolexes. But, do you get what was shown in the pics?

You have to know what your doing on eBay that is for sure. Unfortunetely the masses think it is a safe place to buy because of PayPal. But as we know, watches are butchered and often contain some original parts mixed with aftermarket parts. The general uninformed buyer can get burnt.

Thanks rrcompton Looking over the vero list, there is a lot of watch brands not on the list besides Rolex. I would imagine the drawback of joining vero is that an employee would have to be assigned to check eBay for scammers of their products - a relentless never ending job. Cheaper to have the gang at WatchOut!! do the work.

I used to be a brand Protection Manager for a famous clothing brand and know that over 90% of all the offers re. our brand were for counterfeit items. Ebay is not making the efforts it should, therefore I very well understand Rolex not participating in the vero program, as this would result in accepting ebay's attitude and give them a weaker position in lawsuits.
