Non-Rolex innards are obvious disqualifiers, but an original Rolex calibre is not an automatic qualifier anymore in the world of high-end replicas.

I will ask my dealer friend to let me take pics of that tainted 1655 he got, and it does not have a 1665 sticker to help with the authentication (or lack of.....). Promise you will be scared.

I'm not an expert, but I'm Asia -based, for what I'm saying next: Tainted DRSDs, 1655s and Red Subs are entering the market fast. Origin HK. These days, I would not buy a DRSD from any other than the original owner. Or I'd rather buy an over-polished 1680 with blackish lume plots than a "never polished", "mint condition" one. It's that bad.

If HK is able to make cases this refined, how come MKII didnt go to them? Have you seen his HK cased watches? He must've went to a Discount case maker, not a high end copier as you describe.

The 1's on the bezel are not correct for the early Explorer II's. Someone else mentioned this in another response.
