Call me Crazy
I just had a bracelet resized, and needed a permanent link removed. The AD I visited were kind enough to remove a link from the 12 o'clock side, however, the clasp was not centered.
The issue is that I need a permanent link removed on the six o'clock side, not a link removed on the 12 o'clock side (pretty much matching the oyster configuration on my Sub Date). Not wanting to drive another two hours, and not really having a jeweler in my parts that I trust; off it went to Rikki at Time Care Inc for link removal. I know it might seem a bit much, but not having my clasp centered was driving me bonkers , and took away from the joy of the watch. Rikki, the consummate professional agreed to remove the link, and in his hands I am 100% confident.

Just curious but why not just flip the bracelet? Then the permanently link would be 'removed' from the 6 o'clock side.

Oh no, I cant even tell with my other oyster bracelet, its seamless (to me). I just want it to fit with the clasp centered. If I had the courage I'd do it myself, but Rikki told me that it requires heating of the bracelet before attempting removal. Too much for me to stomach, and purchasing of the pliers and small side cutter. I'd rather let the pro's handle it.

I tried this last night before I emailed Rikki for help after reading other threads, however, it was still off center because the 6 o'clock side is too long for my wrist.

Just switch the links after removing them from the watch and bracelett.I did it myself when I bought a watch with a perm link removed.I didn't like the step on the six side so moved the links to the twelve side.

The issue is that I needed a permanent link removed on the six side only. Instead, the AD removed a link from the 12 side to make the watch fit. A sales guy showed me his and it was off center (pretty bad) and he said that he was wearing it for 25 years that way. I refuse to argue with AD's, so I thanked them, talked about my love for the brand for about 30 mins, and left.

You'll be fine with Rikki performing the work!

About how much does it cost to have a perm link removed?
Also, Armyguy03, how big is your wrist? I think I need a perm link removed from my 6 oclock side as well. My 12 oclock side goes straight down and bends like a square, while my 6 oclock side is nice and rounded. I've always been tempted to do this! |

I think the question to ask is is your clasp centered to your liking, and is it a comfortable fit. If not, I would explore the option, just note that if it is removed, it cannot be replaced, a new link would be required. I would swing by an AD you trust, and have them see if its sized correctly, or move around some links. I've had work done with Time Care Inc already and was extremely satisfied with his work, therefore, it was a no brainer when I couldn't get it done locally.

I'm still confused as to why you want to remove a permanent link.
1. Take off your bracelet from the watch. 2. Remove the clasp from your bracelet 3. Now you have 3 pieces. A. six oclock too long side B. 12 oclock side C. Clasp Attach A to the 12 oclock side of watch Attach B the 6 oclock Insert the clasp in correct orientation. |

Both sides of any bracelet are identical - the only difference is how many removable screw-links are added. It does nothing to change bracelet halves to the opposite sides..

In all, I need one side (either the six or twelve) to have 4 links only so the clasp on the tuna oyster will fit centered on my 6.5" wrist.

Yikes... So are you missing a perm link from the 12? I wouldve been fruious. They should already know that in order to have the clasp somewhat centered.... The six oosition shiuld always be a tad bit shorter. Im sure rikki will take of you. Goodluck
