dial trouble : old Royalite

FOLKS ,

I WANT TO SELL THIS WATCH OF MINE BUT WONDER HOW MUCH IS THE DIAL GOING TO BE A PROBLEM ; WILL IT PUT OFF PEOPLE OR IS THE WATCH RARE ENOUGH TO ATTRACT WHAT IT HAD ORIGINALLY COST ME (ABOUT ONETHOUSAND UKP ) . THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

Other than the focus of damage, the dial is in very nice condition -- a shame.

The value of these small early '40s Oysters is difficult to gauge. Dealers tend to charge a lot for them (but many sit on their "virtual" shelves for quite awhile IMO), but I'd be very surprised if you were able to get what you paid for it even if the dial were mint.

Still don't even think of having the dial refinished, please! The result would likely be less-than-satisfactory, would be expensive, and would devalue the watch further to a collector.

My Oyster Raleigh says hi...BTW this cost me $900 including service a couple of years ago. I think that value is more realistic.
