Hello! from Valley Forge, PA
It's about time I got around to this....
What a great Community! and so very International. My wife and I have been members of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors for many years. http://tinyurl.com/nceq7zx And as if we don't get enough history around us here in Valley Forge, we have been associates with the National Watch & Clock Museum in nearby Columbia, PA. since it's inception (1977?). We only had about 1,000 objects of time when we started, but now claim (rather cheeky ;) to be "America's Largest Timekeeping Collection". If you're ever around Lancaster County, PA you should consider stopping by the Museum. They have tremendous collections from all over Europe and N.America. http://tinyurl.com/oypalb8 My area is collectible clocks, but i bought my first Rolex in 1975.. a GMT Master. And a lifetime romance began. ;) The Rolexes in my life have proven to be all they were ever said to be, and more. They will be going onto my grandchildren. I was originally referred to TRF by my old friend and newly retired Watchmaker, who sold me that first Rolex. An accident has my 16610 Submariner bezel with a ghastly scar on it and was hoping to pick up a replacement, without the watch leaving for a 2-3 month vacation in NYC. (It's looking to be a very bad choice on my part. I should have asked first.) But, I'm really enjoying reading all of the discussions, and the enthusiasm for the much deserved history and heritage of the Rolex. I have to admit I need to get up to speed on some model numbers and which was when. ;) It's great to be here, and I'll look forward to seeing you out on the Boards. Best regards. Booker ;) |

Thanks for the welcoming nods.
Wonderful. That can't get any closer to home. I grew up in Rosemont. Isn't that place "da bomb"? ;) Thankfully, I have Valley Forge Park as a buffer between us and and the intersection of 4 of PA's busiest highways, right at the front step of the Mall. I'm not a big Mall-er, but I call it the Mecca of upper-crust Mall shopping in the tri-State area. If I have this right,.. counting the Court and the Plaza together, it is competing for the largest Mall in the world. The thing about it is the breadth and quality of its Banner-stores. Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom's, Tiffany etc. Omega has their own storefront and there is a watch store which has every single current model on display of Rolex and the other Brand names listed here in the Boards section. A recent favorite of mine was Tesla putting their first Dealer Showroom for PA as a storefront inside of the Mall, next to Apple's largest Mall store. IMHO, the car is a work of art in design, with the likes of a silky-smooth American muscle-car performance engineered in. I swear... if Rolex or Apple were going to make their own car, it would come out something like the Tesla. Now if this old, semi-retired average-Charles could just hit the lottery or something. ;) I could probably extract the cash from our retirement funds and buy a Tesla... but then there would be the costs of the divorce proceedings, and fighting off my wife trying to have me committed to an institution. ;) Have a good weekend everyone. ;) |

Welcome, from Blue Bell.
I absolutely love the King of Prussia Mall. I am there at least 2-3 times a month.

I have mixed feelings about Blue Bell. I met my wife at the Broad Axe Tavern. These days are great. But then there are some when I wonder why I should have to suffer so, for just one mistake. ;) Holy Christmas Holidays!... went to the Mall on Saturday to pick up my wife's watch at the Yurman boutique. I should have packed food and water. It took over a half hour to find a place to park and get into the Mall. The place was rockin', and it's not even Thanksgiving yet. ;). |

Hey yo! Philly style :)
LOL! I like the Broad Axe Tavern. Blue Bell has lots of good places to eat and drink. Talking about your turf...I met my wife at the late Gator's in Berwyn. If I am not mistaken, it's not there anymore. I won't step near any mall between Black Friday and New Years. No way, no how! Quote:
