Hi Ken, How do you like the G9? I got one two weeks ago at Best Buy. They are hard to get. The store near me had to call 3 other stores to find one. I am just really starting to familiarize myself with it, but it has tremendous features for an non SLR camera. Any tips on it's use would be appreciated because you obviously have a high level of skill.

JJ, how do you miss even one sheep if there are millions around?

buz-lh, I just got my G9 a little over a week ago. I also bought it from Best Buy and they were also sold out everywhere! Well, there were a couple stores that had stock, but I insisted on waiting for one particular Best Buy store to have stock because I have a friend whose wife works there and could get me one at staff price. I was leaving for a trip last Saturday, and Friday was the last day of hope to get it before my trip; as Best Buy typically get new inventory coming in every Fridays. To my surprise, on Friday my friend told me Best Buy's computer system shows that ONE G9 was coming in that night . There hadn't been any G9 stock coming in for at 3 weeks prior to this ONE; so I got very lucky.

I love this camera. It has all the functions you would find on a DSLR and more. And the size is small and convenient to carry and take quick pictures. The advantage of the G9 is that you can use it to take pictures like a point and shoot or create a photos like a DSLR with all the little manual settings it offers. Of course it will never be able to shoot with the same quality as a DSLR given it's limited power of the sensor and lens. However with it's option of shooting in RAW, it allows you to creatively post process the picture in the electronic darkroom to come out close to that of a picture taken with a DSLR.

To proof you can take amazing pictures with just a point and shoot camera check out this website: http://www.kleptography.com/
This gentleman used only the Canon G1 and G2 and various filters to create his amazing photos. Check out his section "workflow" that talks about how he post process his pictures. Unfortunately, he hasn't updated the website for awhile; and even the software he stated using is very outdated now, nonetheless the information on the website is still very helpful. Good luck and enjoy your G9 like I am

Thanks Ken,
Will pay his site a visit. I'm really enjoying my G9, I hope to acheive half the skills your pictures show. Keep posting them, they're a real inspiration and beautiful to look at.

It's a good thing you weren't wearing a Platinum YM, JJ would be on the next flight to Oregon.
