Twinlock IS waterproof when open

Yep, I did a boo-boo. I reset the time on my ExpII and forgot to screw the crown back in. I took C to her first swim lesson on Saturday morning and the watch was pretty much submerged for 30 minutes in the pool and then I noticed it in the change room. D'oh~!

But, no moisture on the inside of the crystal, and it's still running +1.5 a day in the two days after that.

Bottom line, the twinlock is waterproof with the crown open... but I wouldn't want to temp fate again.

Yes, I remember the time when some guy on TURF posted a picture of his Daytona submerged in a fish bowl with both pushers and crown fully unscrewed. It seems nothing happened to the watch and it was still ticking A-okay!

IIRC, the Sub was required to pass an unscrewed-crown water-resistance test before being selected as the official Royal navy watch back in the 1960's. My understanding's always been that when the crown's unscrewed, it's got about the same WR as watches with simple pull-out crowns.
