Rolex owners that have a Breitling in your collection?
Just wondering if anyone has a Breitling in their collection? I randomly stopped by the Breitling AD yesterday and found the Superocean to be a beautiful watch for a very good price. I looked on the Breitling forum but it doesn't have a lot of activity. I like the 42 and 44. Their resale value is not good from what I can tell. Just curious to what ownership is like. Here is the model I would buy:

I love my Superocean Abyss 42. It's the only watch I've ever bought new. Out of the ocean of Breitlings the AD had, it took me 1.5 seconds to pick my favorite one. I like the rubber bezel insert, and the fonts. I went with the red chapter ring, although I think all the options look good. The bezel feel is not as good as my Sub...but otherwise the quality/timekeeping are pretty much on point.

Breitling makes a great product. Really they are some very nice pieces. The resale value is anemic, especially if you get into their Breitling for Bentley watches. Then you are getting into territory where you have to just about buy them to keep them. Not great watches for flippers unless you bought them used.
I myself have had a Navitimer World, a Superavenger and the Flying B. Service wise the Flying B has had to go back twice for an issue with the jump hour, both times they fixed it for free, even out of warranty. I can't say that having complications go wrong is a unique thing though, my Daytona had to be sent back twice as the chronograph would stop adding minutes. On the Superocean 44, in that dial you have pictured, you can order it with this really cool leather strap that is black but then has wetting on the sides of it in that blue color. Really is a very unique looking combination. If you go that way, get it with the deployment, as Breitling makes a very nice one. |

Thanks guys. For $3K I would not be looking to flip it, but simply wear it without worry kind of like I do with my Tag now. More than likely replace my Tag for its "beater" purposes.

Breitlings are great watches and I used to have two in my collection (down to one now...Aerospace). My only personal dislike about them is that too many of their models are moving towards "bling" and every surface seems to be polished. To me at least, a tool watch, or "Instruments for professionals" as their slogan reads, should really be more brushed. Again, personal opinion.
The Superocean is a great watch and still retains a lot of their tool watch lineage. Go for it, you won't regret it. |

My breitling barely gets any wrist time, but I still keep it since it was my first nice watch

Here's my SO Abyss 42 as well. Love it and the custom shark strap I had made for it.

I have a TT SUB, HULK, TT tog and a Super ocean heritage, which ever best suits a days activity and dress code dictates the watch.
My job takes me from the board room to construction sites, so diversity is important in my small collection. Cheers Wayne |

My Breitling was one of the first nice watches that I bought and will not sell it.
Resale sucks - so of you're concerned, buy right or just keep it. For the price, the product is great. |
