Suspect ebay Daytona listings

HI Guys,

first post here, I reviewed the rules so hopefully all good. I am always keeping an eye on ebay and have noticed a stream of curious listings of late on ebay.au (australian site listings). All rolex Daytona's

Take this one for starters:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rolex-DAY...vip=true&rt=nc

It sold last week from a seller based in Queensland. I had many messages back and forth. Among the discussion were things like the comments around the movement in the ad description (which are talking about a GMT movement...3185/3186?) and also that the seller went on to explain the watch would come from the UK and not Queensland. They explained this was all legitimate and they had a new 'contact / supplier' in the UK. Yet none of these ebay sellers have any history in selling watches. Now take a close look at this current, live listing:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251430769...84.m1423.l2649

Same pictures and description but this time from Victoria (another state of Aus).

I've been monitoring the first item seller's feedback and thus far whomever purchased the first daytona listed above has not left feedback. All bidder's IDs are protected.

In both cases the listings are shipping within australia only and listed for 3 days. As noted I watch ebay on a daily basis for 'shipping within Australia items' and there have been an influx of these in the last 3 weeks. Here is another slightly odd one, curiously from the same Queensland town of Moreton where the first link above is from.

I call foul play, these just don't add up. Has anyone noticed similar dealings before? All of the above auctions are ebay / paypal transacting only. Are people setting up dodgy paypal accounts with the aim of never sending the item? ie the buyer gets duped and has to go through the motions with paypal insurance?

I guess the old statement stands, if it's too good to be true....

Greeting fellow aussie,
I posted the other day about this.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141167662...84.m1439.l2649
happened above also in NSW.

Gents, in future if you believe it is suspect:
1- right click on the photo and copy the link address.
2- go to google images
3- select the camera icon on the search bar, then paste the image URL.

This will bring up results of other websites that display the exact or similar images. Most of the time you will find that scammers rip photos of for sale adds within forums and paste them into the Ebay add.

stay safe..

WOW, definitely funny business going on here, looks like a collaberation between 2-3 people or one guy stealing others pics

More suspect listings

Hi guys

Another first time poster. I have been noticing this suspect activity as well. There was a white gold sub, and a 116710 that ended today as well. Theres been a lot recently.

All of them feature 3 day auctions, members with 20-40 feedback, and photos taken from WUS, TZ, TRF.

Would stay clear of Australian eBay auctions for Rolex's at the moment.

There is definitely something going on.

This listing:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rolex-DAY...a62785e&_uhb=1

"
- Last of the 3185 movements before Rolex transitioned to rehaut engraving, plastic warranty cards instead of papers, and the 3186 movement
"
and

"The deal is through eBay and PayPal or Bank Account only so please don't insist for cash on collection or any escrow services.
"

and then this listing (current):

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261415437...84.m1423.l2649

"- Last of the 3185 movements before Rolex transitioned to rehaut engraving, plastic warranty cards instead of papers, and the 3186 movement.
"

I enquired after the second listing, the person said they were selling it "on behalf" of someone else and they would ask for a picture of the warranty card, and they were not sure where the watch was currently.

If I had to guess, either they have a way to get the money out before paypal reverses the transaction and refunds the buyer, OR, they are dribbling out a batch of stolen watches one by one, using mules etc.

pictures look familiar?

http://arlojikuno.blogspot.com.au/20...aytona-ss.html

it is annoying that ebay makes it so hard to report listings that would INCLUDE supporting evidence if they opened the door a bit wider in their report form.
