Yes , it's mine.....
I got it from a friend who bought it new in 1970 ... Gave it to me for almost nothing - literally .... He was working oil rigs in Middle East. He jumped in a pool a couple years ago and either the seals failed , or the crown wasn't fully seated - he's not sure . I lusted for his watch for years .... He finally decided he didn't want to fix it , so now it's mine. He figured better to give it a good home than sit in his drawer . He's got all the original box , papers etc .... He's just gotta find them .... The case is just dirty , should clean up - Hasn't been serviced since '88 - by Rolex in dallas. It really looks worse than it is ..... It has " character " , right ? I try to refrain from negative comments but these threads make no sense. First of all you know or should know full well that if water gets in you will likely ruin the most important part- the red dial.
Secondly I'm willing to bet that people who tell you to do it don't have one and don't care if your watch is ruined as it is not their watch. Third you know full well what the risk is and despite any affirmation or tesr results that you can swim or dive with it...if it is damaged you will be back on here looking for sympathy over your damaged red sub. Lastly, you know that you have a valuable and arguably irreplaceable dial/watch so unless you have a spare or the money to replace it or like to gamble then you know the answer. |

Today i went to Rolex Service...because the summer is getting closer..they tested my red sub in watertest. İn two different mode and tested in 50 celcius then tested in 5 celsious..and gave me the licence for the next 4 years that i could swim with it.
They changed all the o-rings and plexi glass. This costed me 400bucks...now i am lighter but happy.. Regards |

As soon as I get my red sub back from servicing including new seals/gaskets and pressure test, I will not hesitate to wear it...on dry land.
I have a 14060M for water activities as to me it's just not worth the risk with my vintage pieces. |

I don't understand why anyone would swim with one. Nothing to gain but everything to lose. But hey as long as it's not my Red, go right ahead lol
