Advise on service for my 16750.
To all you experts out there who have owned vintage time pieces I wanted to ask if you advise me sending my 16750 (6.6m) for service...
I have no service history on this watch and was advised it has been sitting in a safe for many years and have to say its in mint condition and runs 3-4 secs slow per day which is very good in my opinion for a watch nearly 35yrs old. Only thing I would say is when I wind the watch up it feels much more tougher and more resistance to wind than my other Rolex watches which could be the oils have dried up in the movement??? With that in mind and the fact it runs pretty well with only loosing 3 secs per day would you guys bother sending it for service??? Advise would be most welcome. |

I would take it to my favorite watchmaker for a look. If he believes it need adds a service, then you have your answer. After 30 years, it is probably due for a service.

It certainly cannot hurt, and, likely, will benefit any watch with unknown service history to have the movement cleaned, oiled and adjusted and the case seals replaced...
Why ever would you risk your watch by not doing this prudent measure..
