Rolex, Tudor & vintage watch enthusiast: Interested in making databases!
Hello everyone,
my name is Alex. I am a vintage watch enthusiast. What I do: I collect & deal in antique to modern wrist watches. I like to focus on vintage sports models from Rolex & Tudor but I also move brands such as: Universal Geneve, Longines, Movado, Minerva, Breitling, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin etc etc. The list goes on. My Purpose: I have no interest in advertising my business on these forums, I simply want to create as much databases as possible. I like to consider myself a scholar of wristwatches, nowhere near a "watch master" but pretty capable. I have reviewed these forums many times and have found very credible information on Rolex watches, I like to see such a knowledgeable community! So, I would like to create a few databases, made exclusively for forum members. The idea is that we all collaborate in a joint effort to make strong databases for collectors all around. I would begin with: Tudor Chronographs 1970's-1990's Tudor Submariners 1950's-1990's Tudor Advisors.. Rolex Submariners.. Rolex Explorer.. etc, etc. I tried creating a "Tudor Chronographs 1970's-1990's" on the watchuseek forum under "alejandrop7" but have not gotten any interested responses in days. So I hope this community will be more interested! My questions: I do not see a Tudor exclusive section, is this something that may be made in the future? Any recommendations as to where this thread would best be suited? Any books, articles, websites to recommend? [I have not purchased the Tudor Anthology by Alberto Isnardi, does anyone have it to give me a brief review? Quick looks through it's pages did not convince me to buy it.] I await your responses, feed back, recommendations and general questions! -Alex |

Welcome to TRF
Your multiple database efforts would make sense in the Vintage or Reference Library in my opinion. The place to start is by methodically cataloging the data already posted in sticky posts and the better reviews already done in those sections. Then you can create the relational data in tables perhaps. A daunting effort but one way to create a derivative of existing knowledge vs. re-inventing the wheel from scratch.
