ROLEX EXPLORER I 214270 New to the family
very happy to show you something from my collection
For the past 10 years, I became interested in rolex, I never had time to surf the forums But it's time to start I want to tell the people around me complimented watches But it's hard when you do not know what he's saying reason expensive hobby  ok so The Explorer had its origins in the 1950s as a more rugged version of a “bubbleback” wristwatch with a plain, easy to read dial. The first examples had stainless steel cases, silver dials with applied hour markers and dauphin (pointed) hands, and a proven automatic winding calibre with chronometer certification. The Explorer as we know it was introduced in 1953 as references 6298, 6150 and 6350. These references are the most easily recognizable as Explorers as they introduced the signature black dial with luminous hour markers – with Arabic 3-6-9 and block markers for the remainder. Hands were broad luminescent skeleton items. Legibility was key, and these early models set the standard. Most importantly, the name Explorer appeared on the dial and the series was officially born. The 6350/6150 was replaced by the 6610 in 1959 (with a new movement calibre and a different case) but retained the signature dial. |
