Repair of old Rolex watch

My niece inherited an old non working Rolex watch from her father. It is a manual wind, steel cased watch at least 50 years old. I doubt if it has any real value, but she would like to get in in running condition. It probably needs a good cleaning and lube, plus some polishing. Could some of our knowledgeable members give me a ''ball park'' figure on what a servicing at a reputable repair shop would run excluding any parts? Neither she, nor I have any idea what watch repair costs run these days. Thanks guys/girls.

Sounds like a lot of variables, any pictures?
I know Bob Ridley has an impeccable record when it comes to fixing up vintage pieces. Maybe he could provide an estimate?

A Rolex overhaul would range from $400-600 at the low end by an independent watchmaker. The RSC can cost more...

Agree with Clark that it needs to be seen and estimated by the watchmaker you choose to do the work.

Would also love to see some pics, too

It's like asking: "hi I have an old car, how much will it cost to get it running?"

Well, without pics, your guess is as good as ours. The more photos the better.

there is a watch shop located in Lititz, Pa, next to the Rolex Technicum Watchmaker School. They are an Authorized Rolex Service Center..

Expect to pay around 500 to bring this watch back to excellent condition (do not change the dial or hands); it will still be worth twice that or more.

I would actually speculate more on the $1200 range because you don't know if parts need replacing
