Panerai love gone
Well the title says it all, I really loved Pams for 1 year, until 6 months ago, but somehow the love passed away as I got other pieces and that's why I am selling my Pams as I hate to see great watches stay in the bank safe and not get any wrist time, to be clear I had only 1 good watch 1,5 year ago, a Rolex Sub c LN, after which I got a 233 dot dial, and it got a lot of wrist time, after I got a 28, and a 82 "shadow case", in my book these are incredibly cool Pam pieces and they all got good writ time, may be wrong but don't think so.
Since 6 months ago I purchased many pieces, a Daytona 116515 in rose gold with ceramic bezel, a BLNR from Rolex, a Blancpain L-Evolution alarm GMT, and the last a Patek 5712, I think that getting the Daytona and especially the Patek I couldn't wear big watches anymore, and felt a little ridiculous putting on my Pams, also the fact that I am selling my collection to go down to 3-4 pieces, the Patek, the Hulk, and either the BLNR or the Daytona, haven't decided yet. Am hesitating though between keeping the 82 or selling it, the fact that it is a "shadow case" and doesn't have box or papers means probably that I won't find any buyer, at the same time for me it's a really rare piece as only 4 to 12 shadows are created not more. Anyways just wanted to post a thread about this as some of you might know me from before when I was all the time on the Pam sub forum which is not the case in some time |

I personally feel that every collection needs a PAM. I really enjoy my 111.

Tastes change over time and certainly with your other timepieces, it would be easy to see how the PAM might not get much wrist time. But I don't think it necessarily means you've lost the love for Panerai. I've sold an IWC, Omega, Rolex, Glashutte Original, Breitling, etc. and still love and enjoy the brands, its just that my tastes shifted a bit. So without unlimited funds, there come choices that have to be made. If I'm considering selling a watch I make myself keep it an extra month or two to be sure. And if it still isn't getting the love after another month or so, I then feel like it is the right move to sell it.

I know the feeling. My first PAM was a 320, I enjoyed it a lot. Then I flipped for the 372, one of the best PAMs IMHO, but after a year I said goodbye. Maybe someday I might come back and get a Rodiomir rose gold or something like that.

Ya I go back & forth on big watches as well. My PAM 233 gets a lot more wrist time in the summer because it doesn't fit too well under a shirt cuff.

Feelings can wax & wane for any brand. In another 6 months time you may feel different.

It'll happen. More so once you head off to Patek land. Who knows, you might tire of the 5712 in time.
I'm happy to be a dive watch nut, so will always have a Pam or two. Great for casual wear, not so great in business attire! |

I would keep it strictly for the fact that the pam introduces some variety to your ideal collection the divers and daytona are fairly similar and the Patek is a fairly formal watch. The pam fills that void.

On further consideration, 082 would sell OK with service papers.

It happens. I've gone through similar phases with all my brands but I'd recommend keeping at least one piece.

Very true. I'd keep the one you like best. Oddly, sometimes the larger the collection, the more you tend to become dissatisfied with a particular marque. Might just be that you have too much choice....
