1601 Datejust for my wife

Hey forum friends, I recently picked up a DJ 1601 from the '60s to give it a spin. I'm finding that it wears a bit smaller than I like (I'm sure that is just in my mind). I was on the verge of doing a "catch and release" and realized that maybe this would be a good gift for my wife on Christmas! She has an Omega mid-sized blue Seamaster that she likes quite a bit, but has only been wearing it occasionally as it is just a bit too sporty looking. I'm thinking that the 1601 may be a great way to give her a nice watch that is more dressed up, but still having some wrist presence due to the 34mm case. Anyone else have women in their lives wearing a DJ or similar?

Thanks and happy holidays!
Eric

Hey Eric

The 1601 is 36mm I believe not 34.

I'm blessed (in my opinion) with slim wrists tad under 7! So I love 34mm and 36. If your finding your DJ small maybe flip and look at the larger DJ 2?

Or

Get in the good wife's good books give it as a gift then borrow it back ;)

Win win

A 36mm 16xx is a great fit for many women. My wife loves hers.

Thanks everyone. Yes, 36mm is what I meant, multitasking. I think I will surprise her with this. The picture above is awesome.

Eric my wife wears a 36 dj and really likes it.
What color is the dial? I think certain colors like champagne and white, lighter colors may be better suited for a woman although Nsumners blue dial looks great on his wife's wrist.

Here's a picture. I just got the tt bracelet as originally I had the head only. It actually looks much better on my wrist with the bracelet vs a strap, but I am still planning to give it to my wife. Pretty classy watch, you think?

Looks absolutely great to me. Real beauty

Love the 36mm size - but i'm not one for the modern bigger is better approach WW2 pilots got by with 30-32mm Rolex so that's good enough for me :)

Your wife will love it (you can always pinch it back )

Looks great. I am sure your wife will love it. Strangly enough I almost gave the same watch to my wife for the same reasons. She also currently wears a Blue midsize Seamaster.

The watch was a big hit and looks great. It is darn close to being a birth year watch for her as well, so that's pretty cool. She did not understand why I wanted to take a picture of it, but it was allowed, LOL.

my wife wears my all stainless date just , white dial, all the time, well its hers now, I have a blue roman as well but she doesn't wear that one , never bothers to set date either, and actually managed to knock off the date magnifier, needless I think its a popular watch for women
