I'll never understand why some people go out of their way to scam hard working and innocent people out of their money

Being from Toronto, I thought it would be entertaining to text him since he put his number up on the ad. I have an app that gives me a temporary number that I use for online sales, so I figured there's no harm.

He told me he found the watch (surprise), but he was also willing to meet me at an AD on Monday to have it checked out. After some back and forth, and some price haggling (fyi: we settled on a cool $22k), I told him that the jig was up and I knew it was a fake. He was very adamant that this was a WG Sub from the 90's, which is odd since they came out in 2008.

I also reported the ad so hopefully kijiji has it taken down soon. Although, I highly doubt anyone ready to spend that amount of money on a Rolex is looking to kijiji, and if they are, hopefully they know enough to spot this piece of trash from a mile away.

I hope this isn't the 116619 with the sunburst dial everyone has been waiting for.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but can you share the name of the app?

No worries. It's called Burner, I have it on my iPhone but you can get it on android as well. Quite handy when you're selling online!

Thx johneh. Gonna install the burner app and begin working some of these local CL ad's that list their phone numbers. That was always my hesitation with trading txt's with these scammers (them having my phone number). This stuff pisses me off to no end.
