Do all gold blue subs 116618 have sunburst dial?

I'm a bit confused seeing pictures online. I am strongly considering going back to a gold piece since I sold the President a few years ago and have always loved the blue sub in solid gold. Do the ceramic models have a sunbust dial? Or only certain ones?

No, the first couple years of the ceramic 11618 and 11613 had a flat blue dial. It was about two years ago that Rolex switched back to the sunburst dial.

Good question. Sorry but the long answer is...No, but all manufactured from now on will. The White Gold will only have the flat blue or so called Smurph dial. The newer ceramic two tone and the yellow gold will have the sunburst dial.

However when the ceramic first came out the TT and the Yellow Gold had the flat blue. If you like it and want to find one NIB could be a problem but a few used do turn up here on the for sale section.

In the summer/fall of 2013, the new sunburst dial came out on the 116618, and 116613. The flat blue "Smurf" dial was the only one available before then.

Thanks gang, yeah if I go for the Gold Sub I am really turned on by that sunburst action, guess it'll have to be a 2014/2015 model then.

If you buy one make sure you request the sunburst Blue. Some AD'S may still have some of the flat powder blue dial ones. Especially in markets where 30+K gold watches are slow sellers. BTW, the YG blue sunburst Sub is my grail watch. One of the most beautiful timepieces on Earth!

Sunburst models are only a couple of years old. I went from the sunburst TT to the non sunburst gold blue. Absolutely no regrets.

I purchased a two tone sub three years ago when the flat blue dial was the only option. When Rolex brought back the sunburst dial, I took mine to an AD to compare it with the sunburst. I thought the flat dial looked significantly better than the sunburst. It complemented the blue bezel much better than the sunburst. The sunburst dial also made the watch appear smaller by comparison. If I were to get a gold blue dial sub, I'd try to find a flat dial one.
