Seamaster 300

After much debating, I picked-up a new Seamaster 300 over the weekend. I wouldn't say it's replacing my sub--they are very different watches--but the 300 is temporarily dominating my wrist.

Thank you! It's a great piece. Much more comfortable than I thought it would be. I hope Omega produces a rubber deployant for it, like they have for the Planet Ocean. It would be much more comfortable in the summer.

Looks great, how does it wear compared to the Sub? I assume that it's thicker?
Congrats.

It is thicker than my 114060. It also seems to weight a bit more, although the heavier bracelet on the Omega--and the clasp--do a good job of keeping the watch balanced and comfortable. In fact, the weight difference is only noticeable when you're holding the two watches simultaneously.

Despite its thickness, the Omega seems smaller because of its thinner and more tapered lugs. It wears just as well, if not slightly better than the Sub. That's purely a personal opinion. Here are both watches for comparison:

Gorgeous - thanks for posting this! I haven't been able to get the SM300 out of my head ... I keep staring at photos of it and re-reading the review in Watch Time. I have to keep convincing myself that my SMP 300m is better, but I'm having trouble ... You're an enabler!

Haha--the SMP is also a winner. It's more "wearable" in that it has a thinner case and a solid case back. Frankly, one needs BOTH the 300 Master and the SMP!

I recently picked up the same one and also have a LVC Sub and have the same feelings as you. I like this one for the things that my Sub isn't.

I think the SM 300 is an awesome watch, but when I scrolled down and saw the picture of your sub, it hit me like a bulldozer. the ND sub is gorgeous. Congrats on both.

Beautiful watch. Loved mine. I just wish I could have gotten past the faux patina on the lump. The small pip bothered me as it was hard to read....

Still, a great choice. I prefer the 114060m from a design standpoint but the Omega is as nice if not nicer of a watch.

Each to his own, but I just don't get why or how the 300 has anything over the PO series. It seems like a step back in many respects.

What's the counter argument?

Technically, the PO has better specs. The 300mc has a liquid metal bezel insert, which is only available on the titanium PO and a limited edition version. The 300mc also has a more advanced clasp with micro-adjustment. Beyond that, the only thing I can say is the PO is 1.5-2mms thicker and wears like it's even more of a difference. When I tried on the 42mm PO, it was a beast. The movement, however, is the same with the addition of a date. The PO also has more strap options from Omega. If you're a technically focused person, and you can wear something that big, go for it. I'd try them both on first, though.

I like the Omega but I'd have to brush the entire watch including the lugs, a brushed finished on the whole watch would be interesting to see.

It's one reason I waiting for the blue Tudor Pelagos for my next purchase

The Seamaster has the "Master Co-Axial" Movement.

The "Master" designation indicates that the movement is rated to 15000 gauss.

It's not a question of better or over the PO. Omega doesn't market this watch as a replacement, just another option another model in the line up.
Look at Rolex and the GMT2c LN vs BLNR vs Exp 2, neither is "better" than the other, just different.

The new Seamaster MC, has few good things going for it vs the PO....it's thinner, no He valve, complete antimagnetic movement(14 times stronger than a Rolex Milguass and w/ clear caseback), liquid metal bezel and dial, no date symmetrical dial, adjustable clasp(similar to the Glidelock), pcls and it's new movement now has new certifying rating (METAS) which is arguably more stringent resulting in a more accurate watch.

But none of that says it's better, just another watch to choose from, options are good, no.
